Careers at Rook IT
Rook IT is growing – we're looking for several infrastructure specialists
These are busy times in the datacenter and supercomputing business. Rook IT designs, builds and operates High-Performance Computing and IT infrastructure for a wide range of clients, from research institutions and healthcare to the public sector and private companies. Demand for our services keeps rising, and that growth recently earned us a Børsen Gazelle 2026, which recognises us as one of Denmark's fastest-growing companies.
The flip side is that we have more work than hands. So we're looking for people with strong infrastructure skills to fill the gaps as we grow. Rather than one narrowly defined role, we want several new colleagues whose skills complement each other. You don't need to cover every area below. We want people who are genuinely strong in one or two of them and curious about the rest.
Where you might fit in
- Firewalling – hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, which most of our clients run: policies, NAT, VPN, upgrades and day-to-day change management
- Linux operations – running and troubleshooting Linux (RHEL/Rocky) servers in production, scripting with Bash, and ideally knowledge of identity management such as FreeIPA
- Security – hardening, vulnerability management and a security mindset applied to everyday operations
- Datacenter – hands-on work in the datacenter: cabling, racking servers, replacing failed components, and keeping hardware current with firmware and BIOS updates
- Monitoring – building and maintaining monitoring with tools like Zabbix and Grafana, and turning alerts into something people actually act on
- Logging – syslog, centralised log collection and a solid understanding of SIEM concepts
- Automation / DevOps – CI/CD, infrastructure as code and scripting (Python, Ansible or similar)
Whatever your area, an automation mindset is a strong plus. If you would rather script a task than do it twice, you'll feel at home here.
What we expect
You'll work as a consultant with our clients, so independence and maturity matter. We expect at least five years of experience in a comparable role, and the confidence to take ownership of your area, make sound technical decisions and represent our expertise to clients. You don't need HPC experience from day one, but you do need solid experience in your own field. Colleagues are always available when you need a second opinion, and we'll give you the training to grow into the HPC side.
Some roles may involve weekly travel abroad for a period, typically while a new setup is being established, until it can be managed remotely from home.
What we offer
- Technically challenging work on infrastructure that matters, for public and private clients alike
- A small, experienced team where your contribution is visible
- Room to grow into new areas alongside your speciality
- Competitive compensation
Some client assignments require background screening.
